Tom Davis began his political career as a Page in the U.S. Senate from 1963-1967. After graduating from Amherst College cum laude, he worked in the Political office of the Nixon White House, served in the U.S. Army and graduated from the University of Virginia Law School.
He served on the Fairfax County Virginia Board of Supervisors for 15 years, three as the Chairman (elected countywide) and went on to win seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from Northern Virginia’s 11th District. In both his race for Board Chair and Congress, he defeated Democratic incumbents.
A self-styled political junkie (and two time winner of National Journal/Hotlines Political Pursuit Trivia Challenge), Davis served as Chairman of the House Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) in the 2000 and 2002 election cycles. He was rewarded by his colleagues with Chairmanship of the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight in 2003. From his Chairman’s perch, he headed hundreds of investigations including steroid use in Baseball; Hurricane Katrina Response; Government Contracting in Iraq.
A prodigious legislator, Tom was Chief Sponsor of over 100 Bills signed into law, working with Democrats and Republicans to pass legislation.
He teaches Political Science at George Mason University, in Fairfax Virginia, where he is Chairman of the Board of Visitors. He also serves on numerous other Boards and is a Director at Deloitte LLP in Washington DC.
He resides in Vienna, Virginia with his wife, Jeannemarie a former Virginia State Senator.
