Palmiro Poltronieri, born in Czech Republic in 1953, living in Lecce, Italy, and working as researcher at ISPA-CNR, Institute of Sciences of Foods Productions belonging to the Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Biotechnology Department of the Italian National Research Council, from 1999 to 2020.
I graduated in Biology in 1987, and obtained a 4 year Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Pathology in 1995, at the Institute of Chemical Biology, Medical Faculty of Verona University. I got a two year post-doctoral position by Japanese Society for Promotion of science, working from 1996 to 1997 at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Tsukuba University. I stayed three years as contract scientist at the Institute of Researches in AgriFood Biotechnology since 1999, and got a permanent position in 2001. In 2002 I co-founded Biotecgen SME - a service company involved in European projects, developing molecular tools such as Ribochip DNA Arrays, and protein chips. I was Associate Editor to BMC Research Notes (2012-2020), Editor-in-Chief at Challenges, MDPI, and in editorial board of Biochemical Pharmacology. My current interest is on environmental responses in legume plants, and phytohormone cross-talk signaling, including regulation by non-protein coding RNAs. I coauthored 65 international publications and twentyfive book chapters, and edited four books.
My most extravagant travel was in 2008, a very long fly, I left Atlanta for Rome and on he same day took a fly to Tokyo through Paris, a 24 hour fly allowed to have no jet lag. During the military service I worked in office and in the storehouse for the subsistence corp in Alessandria, and as secretary to General Ubaldo Lai.
