Ralph Steele, MA, LMFT, SEP has degrees in Religious Studies and Humanistic Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is a certified trauma specialist. Raised on Pawleys Island South Carolina, in the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor; High School in Japan. He was tempered by experiences of the 1964 Summer Olympic in Japan; 1968 riots in Kansas City, Missouri; and the Vietnam War.
He is the founder and director of Life Transition Therapy, Inc., which is a meditation-based, multi-disciplinary trauma healing center. He is also the founder and guiding teacher of Life Transition Meditation Center based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he teaches Sunlun Meditation and other intensive meditation practices. He has presented at international conferences: Conflict Resolution in St. Petersburg, Russia, 2005 and the first and second conference on Agent Orange, Hanoi, Vietnam, 2007, 2011.
He practiced as an ordained monk in the monasteries of Burma and Thailand. He has taught meditation retreats since 1987. He founded the first Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Hospice Program (an Associate Degree) at Northern New Mexico College in El Rito, New Mexico, in 1986. He was instrumental in establishing people-of-color retreats at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California, and the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts. He is a Vietnam veteran.
Ralph and his wife, Sabine, have been creative partners for over twenty-nine years. He proudly provides moral support to his forty-two-year-old son, Clarence, who was released from prison in the spring of 2014.
His interest has always been focused on embracing diversity and utilizing meditation for a sense of wholeness, responsibility, peace, and compassion.
