Brian Parkin originated from the northeast of England. He joined the Royal Air Force at the age of 16, retiring at the age of 40 as a Warrant Officer. During this time, he traveled to many countries and gained insightful, multicultural experiences. On leaving the RAF, Brian emigrated to Australia where he was employed as an environmental health policy officer for several States over the period of 20 years.
Brian's retirement included a variety of interests namely, computer repair, professional photography, portrait painting, and pet portrait tile engraving. He wrote several novels, photography technical books, a cookery book and self-help publications.
His current hobby is music. He has taught himself to read music and plays several instruments, including keyboards, baritone ukulele, and clarinet. The violin is proving to be a problem!
At the moment, he lives in Brisbane with his wife Ivanka, to whom he has been happily married for nearly 20 years. They have a cat, Murphy, and several stray cats that Brian feeds, as well as a possum that turns up at night.
