Roger Mathew Grant

Roger Mathew Grant is Associate Professor of Music at Wesleyan University. His journal articles have appeared in Critical Inquiry, Representations, Music Theory Spectrum, Eighteenth-Century Music, and the Journal of Music Theory. His first monograph, Beating Time and Measuring Music in the Early Modern Era, (Oxford, 2014) won the Emerging Scholar Award from the Society for Music Theory. In addition to teaching at Wesleyan, Grant has held an External Faculty Fellowship at the Stanford Humanities Center and has also been Visiting Assistant Professor in the music department at Harvard. He is currently at work on a book, co-authored with David Halperin, on queer sentimentality.
