Irma Mathis

Irma M. Sides, born and raised in Texas, discovered her love for writing at a young age. This passion inspired her to pen her thoughts and prayers, though her aspirations were set aside as she devoted herself to her family. Her early writings were lost, allowing her to suppress her creative yearning for years. However, when her husband abandoned her and their children, leaving her to confront life’s adversities alone, she turned to writing as a source of solace and strength. Writing became her refuge.

Despite the challenges, Irma successfully raised her three daughters, pursued higher education, and graduated with a Master of Science degree—all while working part-time to provide for her family.

During these trying times, Irma poured her emotions and spiritual struggles into her diary, which eventually evolved into the book Diary of a Christian Woman. This deeply personal work chronicles her nineteen-year journey of grappling with faith, doubts, and the unwavering love of God, demonstrating how divine grace carried her through.

Irma’s writings reflect her profound experiences with her Savior. Her devotional, Imagine God in the Clouds, reveals how God worked in her life, leading her toward self-examination. It is a compilation of scripture, imagery, and reflections on the Lord’s protection, guidance, and provision during both her obedience and moments of rebellion.

In her books, Irma also delves into the generational impact of growing up fatherless. She shares poignant stories from her own upbringing without a father, the heartaches it brought, and the legacy it left for her children and grandchildren. Her book I Will Not Be Afraid - Living in the Last Hour offers a reflective look at the events of the COVID years, her interpretation of scripture, and the role of the church. Irma provides profound lessons that she believes God’s people must still learn, showcasing her remarkable insight.

Now residing in San Antonio, Texas, Irma enjoys helping raise her grandchildren. She is blessed with a supportive husband who shares her love for photography, travel, and other hobbies. Her new book, Where Are My Sheep?, captures the lessons she has learned at the cross and is hoping readers can glean from it to further their walk with the Lord. This is her book using her married name, Irma Sides.
