Born and raised in California, Joleen Michellie has always had a love for writing. Joleen began writing children's books, as a single mother of two, in Orange County, CA. After moving to a small town, in Northern Idaho in 2012, she met her husband and their family grew. Joleen enjoys spending quality time with friends and family. She is constantly inspired by the life around her and it shines through in the nature of her books.
Joleen continues to write new stories as well as design the layouts and covers. She still does create many of her own illustrations but often dose hire out for high quality art. Each book will indicate where credit is due. When Joleen doesn't do the illustrations herself, she works closely with the artist, providing lots of detail in exactly what she has in mind for each page and will many times give them an example to start with.
2014 is when Joleen first published two of her long-awaited books, A Long Winter (Which was written in 2007) and 'Twas the Night of First Christmas (Written in 2011). She is currently working on releasing her Plain Jane series, Plain Jane and the Missing Python, and Plain Jane and the Summer Vacation, as well as adding different variations/options to the MY TIME BOOKS set. She wants each child to be able to relate to the book of their choice, and truly have them feel as though it's "MY TIME" when it comes to naps, potty training and long car drives with parents.
