R.N. Jordan was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 3, 1982. Her desires to write existed long before she was able to define them as those of a writer. She learned at an early age that writing was one of the main ingredients to achieve personal gratification. While fulfilling her secondary educational requirements, she acquired a strong interest in creative and technical writing. In high school, Jordan excelled in those academic areas and her determination allowed her the opportunity to become a protégé of her creative writing teacher.
Under the guidance of Jordan’s mentor, she was exposed to several different facets of writing—narrative, descriptive, expository, creative, and persuasive. The teacher introduced Jordan to a myriad of ways to convey an idea, allowing readers a rich experience.
Although her love for writing exceeded her interest in other academic courses, Jordan still excelled in the science and mathematics realms. She was a star pupil in her chemistry course, causing the teacher to contact her mother to suggest that Jordan be encouraged to pursue an engineering degree once accepted into college. Thus, it’s without a doubt that Jordan’s interest in engineering was strongly influenced by that teacher’s recognition and encouragement in her academic talents.
Excited about potential opportunities, Jordan applied for and was accepted into the electrical engineering program at Wayne State University, located in Detroit, Michigan. While enrolled in engineering school, Jordan decided that she’d be a more efficient student if she were to obtain in-field experience, and therefore, she applied for and was accepted into an internship program at Ford Motor Company, located in Dearborn, Michigan. While taking full-time courses and simultaneously working as a full-time engineer intern, Jordan still had a strong desire to write. She took advantage of her elective options and enrolled in writing workshops, creative fiction, writing for theaters, and technical writing courses. There, she created a portfolio of writing pieces, some of which would ultimately be used as a standard for future students.
After completing Ford Motor Company’s internship program, she went on to satisfy the engineering CO-OP program at TRW Automotive, an automotive supplier located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Subsequently, she finished yet another internship at Ford Motor Company. Then in the midst of her final semester of the engineering program at Wayne State, Jordan was hired full-time by Chrysler Corporation. Finally, sometime after receiving her B.S.E.E, Jordan accepted a full-time position as an electronic finish panel engineer for Ford Motor Company. There, Jordan was recognized for her research efforts, and developing finished technical reports summarizing experimentation projects, including, details of the “technical advances utilized for money savings endeavors.”
With her electrical engineering career in full swing, Jordan discovered her love for fiction novels after reading Patricia Cornwell’s, Predator, while traveling a long flight to Tokyo, Japan for vacation. The book catalyzed Jordan’s completion of reading over 200 fiction novels in a single year. From action-packed to fantasy, Jordan embraced all fiction works, but her interested soon gravitated towards thriller-suspense.
In the midst of her career, Jordan decided to apply to graduate school, where she was required to write a personal statement as part of the application process. Although the piece was more of a memoir, her fiancé, Laurenz, gained a strong love for her writing ability and convinced Jordan to write her first published novel, Slaughter House Of Justice (2013)—the start of the Robin Nicollette series.
Feeling incomplete for not being able to completely satisfy her passion and being bombarded with several exciting ideas for writing, Jordan decided to leave her rewarding career in 2013 to focus solely on becoming a new, prolific writer of thriller-suspense novels.
As the famous electrical engineer Nikola Tesla once said, “Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine.” To this day, Jordan uses this extraordinary quote as inspiration to continue to pursue her dream of becoming a best-selling author. As a new writer, Jordan has recognized the challenges to have a broad audience recognize her work, and at times have found it discouraging. However, during those moments she reflects back to the efforts it took to obtain her electrical engineering degree and remind herself that “nothing great has ever come easy.”
With a goal to release three published books a year, Jordan has prompted her mission by releasing her latest novel, Indecent Vows (2014). Also in 2014, she plans to release The People Within and 3 Strikes—both are Robin Nicollette series.
Jordan and Laurenz reside in Little Rock, Arkansas. They have one daughter together, Autumn Olivia.
