Michael Dailey

Mike Dailey spent his earliest years in Seattle Washington where he

received his consciousness and love for music his mother who exposed

he and his siblings to all sorts of music, and black theater – Dailey said

coming up as a child in the 60’s that he remembers so fondly Black Arts

West “I remember my mother taking us there and it had such a profound

effect on me and I would say that is when my love affair began with the

arts!”

In 1986 he received his first paycheck from the Jackson 5 for writing and

arranging on one of their projects “2300 Jackson Street”

Mike later published his next piece of work with the late Robert

Brookins, a MCA artist - he and Brookins collaborated on a track entitled

“You Got Me Runin”. Mike faced many challenges growing up and

music had always been an outlet; in fact Mike co-wrote and had a small

commercial success with long-time friend Derek "DOA" Allen a single

entitled "Krazy" that was performed by girl group “Black Girl”. The

song not only crossed over but came in on the billboard chart at #35 with

a bullet in 1994 Allmusic.com named "Krazy" best R & B record..

Mike comes from an extensive musical background career and has

written and worked for people like Bobby Brown, The Jacksons, Black

Girl, KRS-ONE, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Tavis Smiley, and Michael E.

Dyson, to name a few. In fact, he was responsible for and was the

brainchild behind Dr. Cornel West’s three musical projects, Sketches of

my culture, Street knowledge, and the latest, Never Forget a Journey of

Revolution. He has worked closely with West as first and foremost a

friend and mentor for the last fifteen years on various projects. With a

few achievements as a songwriter and some production credits under his

belt Mike finally felt he made some progress towards a successful future.

Dailey states, “I met Dr. Cornel West through his brother Clifton West,

Clifton who was a mentor to me as a young teen and pretty much

everything else was history ..

BMWMB which stands for "Black Men Who Mean Business” was a

group we formed to uplift, empower, and inform through music. We

successfully released three Rap & R&B CD's with Artemis Records-

Sony Music Group, Hidden Beach Recordings-Universal, and Street

Knowledge independently Roc- Diamond records. I simultaneously

worked relentlessly on my own music material and my first book entitled

"Truth Matters A Love Revolution" I appeared on MTV black history

month 2009 in the slogan Music Matters...Our music was the mixture of

soul to the core mixed with streets knowledge truth telling about the

dark side of America how racially we are still divided but it was our

music that always exuded hope in the message of our song spreading

unconditional love while standing on the shoulders and spirits of Curtis

Mayfield, Willie Hutch, James Brown , Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack

and countless others.

Currently Mike has been finishing up on what will probably be the last

CD project with BMWMB... In addition Dailey is working on an

autobiography entitled, “My Letters Hidden in The Dark Of My

Shadow” and "A Father Knows Best or Does He" the story about the

journey of a father and a young daughter who lived together

and experiencing her unexpected pregnancy with triplets who were born

premature and given only 50/50 chance to live.... they overcame

overwhelming odds.

…we just received word moments ago that Dailey being the visionary

thinker that he already has a project in mind called - "Negtitude."

Definition: a consciousness of and pride in the cultural and physical

aspects of the African heritage. The state or the quality or fact of being of

black African origin. The affirmation or consciousness of the value of

black or African culture, heritage, and identity. "Negritude” helped to guide Senegal into independence with pride
