Kevin Scott Hall

Kevin Scott Hall was born in northwestern Maine and raised in Massachusetts, where he stayed through high school. He received his B.A. from Gordon College and, many years later, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The City College of New York. Kevin moved to New York City to be an actor, but then became a nightclub singer and recording artist for many years (check out his recordings, streaming everywhere). In addition, he was often a featured soloist with the Middle Church East Village Gospel Choir and became a master teacher of cabaret singing in New York for 25 years. He is a pop chart fanatic, having grown up listening to Casey Kasem count down the Billboard hits--a hobby he put to good use in his first novel, Off the Charts!, a scathing satire on the music industry. Kevin was an entertainment writer for Edge Media, for which he conducted numerous profiles of singing stars as well as a monthly column. From 2011-2015, he was a board member for the prestigious Bistro Awards, for which he also wrote dozens of reviews. His heart-wrenching memoir, A Quarter Inch from My Heart (Wisdom Moon) arrived in 2014 (debuting at #8 on Amazon's books about Friendship); in 2026, a new imprint of the book (with a new afterword by the author) arrived from Worldwide Publicists. Hall taught writing, speech, literature, and theater at City College and Borough of Manhattan Community College. He is an experienced public speaker and a longtime member of Toastmasters International. While he frequently continues to travel to New York, Kevin now resides in rural Massachusetts.
