PHILIP HARNDEN, PH.D., is a primary presenter and facilitator of the Building High-Performance Organizations (HPO) seminar and designer and facilitator of various CCHPO workshops. Additionally, he has developed 360-degree feedback and other culture survey instruments related to performance improvement. He has also been an adjunct faculty member at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Executive Institute and for the Executive MBA Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Harnden spent twenty-three years in increasingly responsible positions with the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL), which operates, under contract with the Department of Energy, a government-owned laboratory dedicated to designing Navy nuclear reactors and training Navy personnel to operate the reactors. As a KAPL Nuclear Plant Manager, He was responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of a nuclear-powered training prototype, with three hundred operators, qualifying eight hundred students per year. For his last five years at KAPL, he functioned as an internal change agent, assisting the senior staff with an extensive organizational improvement effort.
