Allen Gee

Allen Gee was born in Astoria, Queens, in New York City. He grew up largely in Albany, NY. He attended the University of New Hampshire, the Iowa Writers Workshop, and finally, the University of Houston. He's currently the Donald L. Jordan Endowed Professor of Creative Writing at Columbus State University. He is the Editor for the multicultural imprint, 2040 Books, and the newly formed imprint, DLJ Books. His essay "Old School" was included in the 2020 Pushcart Anthology. He's married to the writer Renee Dodd; her novel is "A Cabinet of Wonders." He has two daughters, Ashley and Willa. His favorite pastimes are fishing, running, playing basketball, hiking and backpacking. In addition to his essay collection, "My Chinese-America," he has recently finished a novel, "The Laborers," and he is working on "At Little Monticello," a biography of writer James Alan McPherson.
