Phillip Whitt

Always having a proclivity for drawing and artistic projects, Phillip Whitt discovered photography during his elementary-school years. His favorite aunt (Ruth, who was the most generous soul) gave him her old Kodak Brownie camera when he was 10 years old. Upon seeing the developed print of the first picture he ever snapped, he was hooked.

In the early days of desktop publishing, he worked as the Advertising Manager for a medium sized home center. This resulted in the fusion of two things he enjoys-writing and working with photographic and graphic images. A few years later, he discovered digital imaging which he still enjoys to this day.

Phillip learning the art of photographic retouching and restoration in the late 1990's using Adobe Photoshop. He starting using GIMP (and other open-source programs) during the worse part of the financial crisis, which necessitated streamlining the business budget. He discovered that the free and open-source software alternatives met his needs perfectly well, and has never returned to proprietary software-with one or two exceptions.

In addition to his new occupation (and passion) as a writer, he owns and runs a small photo editing and film transfer business. He loves spending time with his wife, daughter, two dogs and two cats.
