Priscilla Goslin

Graphic designer, pianist, and mother of two grown sons, Priscilla Ann Goslin was born near Sand Lake, Minnesota. She has made Rio her home for more than forty years. Aside from her years in Rio de Janeiro, Priscilla has lived in London, New Jersey, São Paulo, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Currently, she divides her time between the Pacific Northwest in the United States and her home in Rio.

Priscilla is partner and creative director at S/2M2, a design studio specializing in interactive design, as well as founder and director of Livros TwoCan, a boutique publishing house. Prior to S/2M2, she worked as senior art director for the J. Walter Thompson and Salles Interamericana de Publicidade Rio offices before founding DesignCorp, providing design services focused on corporate identity and collateral print design.

Currently in its 36th printing and eighth edition, with over 600,000 copies sold, the first two editions of How to be a Carioca alone sold over 100,000 copies, receiving extensive national and international media coverage, including TIME magazine, Travel & Leisure, The New York Times, the Washington Post, National Geographic Traveller, and Readers Digest, as well as television interviews such as Jô Soares Onze e Meia, Prime Time with Diane Sawyer, and Anthony Bourdain: A Cook’s Tour, among others. Priscilla was interviewed by Michael Palin for the BBC series Brazil with Michael Palin, which aired worldwide in December 2012.

During the Rio 2016 Olympics, Priscilla wrote the blog How to be a carioca / Olhares Olímpicos for Veja magazine’s website. Her editorials have been published in Veja magazine and O Globo newspaper. She has also contributed articles about Brazil to the Havaianas-store online blog.

In past years Priscilla has been an avid rock climber and hang glider pilot. Through her sports promotion company, PEGE Promoções e Design, she organized the 1st Camel International Hang Gliding competition that took place in Rio in 1983. She wears her passion for Rio, the Cidade Maravilhosa, on her sleeve.
