Paulo Cachim

Paulo Barreto Cachim was born in Ilhavo, Portugal, in 1968. He loves to take photos. They can distort reality and show a personal perspective of the world.

Graduated in Civil Engineering, in 1991, at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP). Completed the Master in Structures two years later, in 1993, and concluded the PhD in Civil Engineering in 2000, also at FEUP. Awarded the Prize Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida in 1991. Lectured at University of Minho between 1993 and 1997. Is currently Associate Professor with Habilitation in the Civil Engineering Department of University of Aveiro, where he has been teaching courses in the area of structures since 1997. Was Director of the Civil Engineering Department from 2011 to 2015 and Coordinator of the Research Unit between 2016 and 2020. Is Senior Member and Expert in Structures at the Portuguese Engineering Order. Author of several books and scientific articles in international journals and conferences.
