Anne R. Davidson

Anne Davidson was born in the late thirties in New England where she was guided, protected, and loved by the Black woman who worked for her dysfunctional family. Much of Davidson's adventurous life was spent involved in an unconscious search for the forgotten nanny who had saved her life at the age of four-and-a-half. This journey of rediscovery took her to The Netherlands, where she studied African, Jazz, and Creative Dance, all of which triggered memories back to the truths of her childhood. She returned to the States in 1987, finally connecting with Grace and the suppressed feeling that underneath she, herself, had felt Black all her life. Her book is considered a forerunner in modalities of healing, both her partial blindness and recurrent PTSD cured through a combination of psychotherapy, dance therapy, psychosynthesis, and visual therapy. "Finding Grace" won as finalist in the 2014 National Independent Excellence Awards in the category of Multicultural Non-fiction. An earlier version won second place in the 2011 Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Award Competition in the category of autobiography.
