May Rihani was born in Lebanon, lived in France and the US, worked in over 40 countries, and visited 71 countries. For over thirty years she worked in international education development with a focus on girls' education and women's empowerment. "Cultures Without Borders: From Beirut to Washington DC," her memoir, is her eighth published book, (3 in Arabic and 5 in English). She has won many awards among them: The Temple of Understanding Hollister Award, and the Women's Leadership Award of the Anti Arab Discrimination Committee. In her recent book she argues that, despite all that is happening in the world, there is more common ground among the different cultures than differences.
