Joseph Howse

Joseph Howse is a writer, scientist, beekeeper, and orchardist. He and his cats dwell in a fishing village in Nova Scotia, Canada. When he can, he goes roaming in a pair of old work boots bearing permanent stains of mud and honey.

Joseph’s novels include “The Girl in the Water” and “The Circus and the Atom”, which form the start of a multigenerational saga called “Next Year’s Snow”. The series so far has won the 2023 Independent Press Award for Literary Fiction, the 2023 IAN Awards for Outstanding Multicultural Fiction, and the 2026 Independent Press Award for Literary Fiction and for World Literature.

As a scientist, Joseph is known for his practical tomes on computer vision or, in other words, the ways a machine can “see” and interpret waves of light, radiation, and sound.
