Elliott Baker

International playwright and author Elliott Baker defines himself as a seeker wearing a blindfold. Whatever he’s learned in this lifetime has come from bumping into things. The one throughline in his life has been his love of the story. How will the hero manage to extricate herself from that...? Married, with three children and five grandchildren Elliott so appreciates being in all these stories. Oh, and he loves old movie musicals.

So many things in life connect, even when we can’t see the connection. In physics, the principle of entanglement says that atoms once connected are never truly apart, no matter the distance between them, in time or space.

Have you never had the feeling that you are more familiar with a person or place than you should be, given you’ve never met before or been to this place? I know I have.

My first book, Return, evolved from a dream story that kept nagging me to write it down. As I explored the story, I found myself more familiar with the era and surroundings than I could have expected.

Are we surrounded by a group of friends playing different parts, lifetime after lifetime? Do we each have someone whose love we have shared many times gaining awareness in pain and desire each time?

If love is an entanglement so strong that it reaches across the centuries, perhaps it’s obverse, hate must do the same.

The only way my characters can win the quest for their freedom and the freedom of those they love is to embody the seed of awareness gained in previous lifetimes, and water it until it blooms.

From one perspective, life is an adventure and there is always a treasure at the end.
