R. Samuel Baty

Award winning novelist R. Samuel Baty is a retired U. S. Air Force officer and a retired chief scientist. He received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1960. He spent the next 22 years in the United States Air Force. During this time, he received a Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Engineering from UCLA. His last assignment in the Air Force was with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He subsequently retired from TRW, Inc. as a chief scientist of an operating unit. Since 2000 and until he retired in January 2013, Dr. Baty taught for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), where he retired as an adjunct professor. He has authored numerous technical reports, has been interviewed in prestigious journals, and is an avid reader of WW2 and post WW2 history. In 2004, Dr. Baty was selected as the Outstanding Faculty Member in ERAU's Southwest Region.

In 2008, Dr. Baty's first novel, a World War II thriller, was published. The sequel was published in 2011, and the third novel in the series was published in 2012. He has now completed the fourth and final novel in the series, publishing it in the summer of 2013. This fourth novel takes the surviving characters up to senior citizen status. It completes the story through WW II, Post WW II Europe, the Korean War Era, and Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the Berlin Wall eras.

While Dr. Baty had originally planned to publish only one novel in the series, he became very attached to the characters and couldn't stand to have them languish. Thus, he wrote all of the books in the series in the same manner, including suspense, romance, adventure, and great history in all of them. You can read about the novels at his website (www.sambatybooks.com).

Dr. Baty lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife, Linda.
