Aki Liao

Aki Liao was born in Paris, France, but at an early age emigrated with his family to New York and eventually settled in New Jersey, where he spent his formative years.

Aki is a graduate of Yale University (1989) and received his M.A. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (1993). Aki lives in New Jersey with his wife, Tammy, three children, and no pets.

A Halo for Red Betsy (2014) is Aki's first published book, followed by The Cheongsam Bombshell (2015) and The Siren's Gambit (WIP). All part of the Frank Keegan pulp noir series, "Aloha Noir" co-authored with Al McDermid.

Aki is currently editing My Unexpected Year (WIP), a young adult, coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of an elite University, dealing with toxic achievement culture, while searching for belonging. He's also outlining a new kind of legal thriller with another co-writer.

When he's not writing and editing, Aki can be found hosting the audio podcast NoNaMe Storytellers. Listen on Apple Podcast, Spotify Podcast, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
