Nicholas Jones

Nicholas Jones was born in Surrey, England, but spent his teenage years in Staffordshire before attending university in Yorkshire, where he studied for Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees. He had a rewarding high school teaching career (eventually becoming an Assistant Principal). He taught English and Literature to University entrance level. In the course of instructing examination classes, he introduced his students to many of the most acclaimed poets, novelists and dramatists in the canon of English (and sometimes American) Literature. It was thus he became acquainted with the life story of the 16th. century poet, Thomas Wyatt. He told himself then - some years ago - that Wyatt' s story was a compelling subject for treatment in a novel: Wyatt was rumored to have been the lover of Anne Boleyn before King Henry VIII became interested in her; he was one of Henry's diplomats and spies; and he was twice incarcerated in The Tower of London after falling out with the King. In addition, he wrote love poetry which over time has come to be regarded as the earliest in what is identifiably modern English. Nicholas's two novels about Thomas Wyatt are 'Mistrustful Minds' - about his relationship with Anne Boleyn and his first spell in The Tower - and 'Misalliances', which takes his story on through his continuing troubled relationship with his King and his equally vexed relationships with women to a conclusion which posits an alternative to the official version of his death.

If you are reading this after you have read 'Mistrustful Minds' or 'Misalliances' (or both!) Nicholas would be grateful if you would add a review to the book's Amazon page.
