Grady Miller

This is Graydon Miller, the Wizard of Fiction. I can make you laugh. I can scare you to death. When you have done as much and lived as much as I have, you begin to find stories in the most unlikely places.

When I was working at a movie theater on Sunset Blvd., one morning a pickup plowed into a bus bench on the streetcorner. There was an old man on that bench, an old man wearing Bermuda shorts. When I went downstairs to check out the damage, there was a pasty looking leg that looked more like a ham than what had been a part of a man sticking out all day under the hood of the pickup. It took the authorities all day to clear it all away.

In the afternoon, when the mess was still there, a very proper British woman came up to the ticket window, "Ooooh," she said, "I see they're making a moo-vie." I chose to let her believe what she wanted to believe.
