I author books and blog posts about NoSQL databases. I have published The State of NoSQL in 2016, and NoSQL for Dummies in 2015. Before that I was one of a team of writers on the RedBook IBM FileNet P8 Platform and Architecture, first edition.

I've been working in the Sales Engineering space for Content Management, Business Process Management, User Experience and NoSQL database companies for over 10 years. Before that I was an Enterprise Java developer.

I have a keen interest in new technologies and how they can be applied to solving really hard problems. I'm particularly keen on tech that supports mission-critical systems rather than simple hobby projects. These things are really hard, and require really solid products.

I currently work as a Principal Sales Engineer for MarkLogic, a document-orientated and triple store and search NoSQL company. Previously I've worked for edge IPK (now Temenos), IBM, FileNet, University of Derby, UK, Aberystwyth University, UK and Carroll University, Wisconsin.
