Tyra is a social media muse, award-winning professor, gamer-girl, and lover of all things geeky. She grew up playing card games, watching Star Trek, and reading Asimov and Agatha Christie. This strange combination produced a gamer-geek who loves mysteries, World of Warcraft, police procedurals, and science-fiction.
For her day job at the university, Tyra teaches a variety of subjects including Social Media Marketing, Entertainment Marketing, and Gender and Sexuality in Pop Culture. She is a social media strategist and co-author of Socially Engaged: The Author’s Guide to Social Media with Jana Oliver.
She loves dark chocolate, Jameson & Ginger Ale, Ireland, and her two dogs and kitty. She wants to grow up to be Princess Leia, Wonder Woman, or, most likely, Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds. An eternal DragonCon member, she met her husband there in 2009 at a Lord of the Rings concert. They live happily in their house in the woods with their socially engaging fur babies.
Her fiction writing weaves together her love of animals and the legends and myths of Ireland and the Faerie folk. Penduli Station, co-authored with Sherrie Fillion, is her first science fiction romance. Currently, she is working on a light-hearted fantasy series.
