Lancaster, J.D., Ellen Herr

Ellen Herr Lancaster is a mother, grandmother, lawyer, college professor and artist, living with her husband Mason in the bay area south of Houston, Texas. She began writing the Rosy stories after one Christmas morning when she noticed in her young offspring the lack of interest in "giving" compared to the intense interest in "getting". This is her "anti-greed" campaign! For the past twenty years, she has been involved with children's charities, including the Boys & Girls Club of America, The Assistance League, and the Lunch Group, Inc. She hopes kids will find the books amusing and easy to read, and then be inspired to be generous. A portion of the profits from the Rosy books and other products sold on the website, therosyclub.com, will be donated to these charities. The artist of the first two books, Bob Spear, died unexpectedly in the midst of publication. The remaining six books are illustrated by Briana Jameyson, a student the author met while teaching at the University of Houston. The first two books are a memorial to Bob Spear, a fine and funny man.

Her new book, "Fried And Prejudiced", has just been published! It is about small-town Texas, a newly retired lawyer who has been transplanted to the area, a group of women who join her in trying to make the place better for kids, especially non-white kids, a touch of crime and intrigue, and the interference of the KKK. Since I wrote the Rosy books, I have retired, done a lot of painting and more volunteer work, and enjoyed being near our grandkids. Enjoy!
