I spent my childhood in Harrow, a leafy suburb north-west of London, where I attended a mediocre secondary modern school in the mid 1950s. I recollect the majority of teachers being dull and we gave them silly nick-names. But two were outstanding. I remember fondly our English teacher, Mrs Annan. She was a perfectionist when it came to apostrophes and punctuation. We also had a wonderful history teacher who inculcated into me a life-long curiosity in anything old and historic.
I always enjoyed writing but it had never occurred to me I had the ability to write a book, that was until after I retired and began writing for pleasure. Subsequently after six long years, and many drafts, I believe I have a good story to tell.
My parents were second generation Jewish and lived in England through two world wars. My grandmother came with her husband from Poland in 1905. All their remaining family perished in the holocaust.
Therefore, with my love of history I decided to create my own little imaginary family in ‘Forever A Stranger’.
I wish you happy reading.
