Arlene F. Marks

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Arlene F. Marks began writing fiction at the age of 6 and can't seem to stop. In a foreshadowing of things to come, her first story was a fantasy about a tiny boy who did everything backwards and rode around on a dragonfly. Her two great passions are teaching and writing, and until her official retirement from the classroom in 2012, she indulged them by turns, building an extensive and eclectic writing résumé between years-long stints as a high school teacher of English, Literacy, Writers' Craft and Special Education. (Her third passion is collecting owls, but only if they demonstrate character.)

Finally able to write full time, Arlene is busier now than she ever was as a teacher. She is a multi-published author of speculative fiction, a workshop instructor, and a regular panelist at two great sf conventions, Ad Astra and When Words Collide. She is the creator of the Sic Transit Terra series, and she is delighted to have passed the writing gene on to her two talented sons.

Arlene is currently at work on books 5 and 6 of Sic Transit Terra. Her back burners are also bubbling with ideas for some urban fantasy tales, notably a sequel to The Accidental God.

Arlene F. Marks lives with her husband on the shore of Nottawasaga Bay. She blogs on her web site: www.thewritersnest.ca Find her on Facebook (don't forget the middle initial) or contact her by email at: amarks@thewritersnest.ca
