Roger C. Horton

Roger C Horton, born 1942, grew up in southern Florida. He was drawn to the water, and sailed the Florida coast, and Bahamas in his early teens. He began working at sea on foreign flag, commercial sailing vessels at the age of fifteen, in and out of Cuba and Central America during the Cuban Revolution, eventually employed by Windjammer Cruises. He spent time in British Guyana and Brazil as a diamond prospector before entering the Army in 1967 where he operated tugs in the Mekong Delta of Viet Nam. Holding an (Unlimited Master of Oceans) license in the USMM, Captain Horton has taken ships to the world's ports for fifty years. His passion though is being at sea under sail, and over the years, he has returned to sail, cruising and racing whenever possible. A writer of novels, short stories, poetry, he has also been, for decades, a successful Marine Artist and illustrator.

It is obvious to those who have read his work that he is a writer with a wide life experience, who can create a totally captivating world of words. For those readers, the ones who want believable tales of the sea, and stories of people whose lives swim within island waters, Horton's novels will leave them smiling, soaked, and salty.
