David Auten

Hello, I am David Auten.

I grew up in the Denver metro area, having lived most of my life here. As a kid we lived in Ireland for a year and half as well as having spent a year and a half in Custer, South Dakota while in my 20s.

I was in many ways a later bloomer in life and didn't complete my degree in International Business until I was 33, shortly after meeting John Schneider. I worked a number of years in the financial services industry both before, during and after college. During this time I gained much of my experience in working with investors in various aspects of investing and financial education. It was over this 13 plus year tenure in the industry that I slowly became #MoneyConscious.

I will admit to being a spender in my early days and thus the reason that I, along with John had a combined $51,000 in credit card debt. I love life and living it to the fullest, I am now mastering doing so without living under a mountain of debt. My passion today is helping both young and old realize this too. Life is great! You can have a great life and you can do it with the budget that you have. There is so much to experience.

I am a big believer in knowing who and what you are and want. It, I think, is the key to having a good life. I no longer spend to make anyone else happy, I make me happy and recognizing this has helped me own a great condo with an amazing view of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains to the West. I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and will continue to do so. I have visited 6 of the 7 continents. Enjoying culture and life from the perspective of the local allows me to learn and experience so much that this world has to offer.
