Lory Britain, Ph.D. (also known as Lory Freeman) Early Childhood Education:

Dr. Britain has over 35 years of highly regarded expertise helping children, teachers, families and other adults who value children. This experience includes writing children's books that help keep children safe and express their feelings ("It's MY Body", "Loving Touches" & "My Grandma Died"); authoring "The Young Child as Scientist" with Christine Chaillé for teachers & students; helping start therapeutic child & family programs (Relief Nurseries) around Oregon and as far away as Ukraine; and receiving the 2009 Bertha Holt Award for Service to Homeless Children.

Despite this extensive professional success, her most cherished moments are reading to young children as a mother, grandmother, aunt & preschool teacher. Dr. Britain feels honored to encourage children & adults to share tender & delightful moments together through her books, pictures & stories. Dr. Britain begin illustrating her books with Mama Crow's Gift (El Regalo de Mamá Cuervo) in 2011 and One, Two, Three…It’s Great to be ME! in 2012 and more. I'm Happy Sad Today: Making Sense of Mixed-Together Feelings (2019) illustrated by Matthew Rivera receives rave reviews by parents, teachers and therapists.
