Richard Tabaka is an Active member of the Horror Writers Association and a member of the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers.

As a Child growing up in Central Wisconsin, I recall my mother's love of reading. From a very young age she encouraged me to read by starting me with the simple comic books of the day. As she read novels, I sat and paged through comics, staring at the colorful pictures of super heroes and yearning to know how to decipher the printed words. Perhaps that's why I believe in strong women characters and often use them as central characters in my books.

In time I learned to read and as early as third grade I thought about writing. That thought has never left me. As the years have rolled by I've put pen to paper and fingers to keyboard more times than I dare to count. Often my own worse critic, the papers were destroyed or the delete key struck.

In the late 1990's I began writing more. I studied my craft with what was then known as the Long Ridge Writer's Group. I did so under the tutelage of the former Book of the Month Club and Psychology Today Magazine Editor, Peter Gardner. I owe him more than he will ever know. I also studied novel writing in a program started by Writer's Digest Magazine and there I honed my skill set a bit further.

It was around 2003 that I decided to set some hard goals and stick to them and before long I had completed a novel of some 250 pages that, though crude, was none the less a cohesive story. After many rewrites and additions I put together "The Pride" and some short stories as well.

THE PRIDE turned into a trilogy and book two, BLOOD PRIDE soon followed. Building off book one BLOOD PRIDE takes the story to the next level and introduces several new characters. The final book of the Trilogy is PRIDE FIGHT. In PRIDE FIGHT the lid comes off, as Nick and Suzanne and the family uncover one of America's biggest and best kept secrets. Rakfara's Pride unleases a secret weapon and the gang is caught in a crossfire of two major Armies. They must fight to survive an America they can't even concieve.

2017 saw the release of a brand new novel. SAINT AUGUSTINE'S ROAD. In it the Carter Family moves to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where they encounter the ghost of a very evil man. As the story progresses, they find that evil has a home, and they are living in it.

To start 2018, my 5th novel, Devils of the Wood has just been released. A sixth novel is fully outlined and a seventh is in planning. Check back from time to time to see what I have cooking. I love to hear from readers and can be contacted through this page or using my contact info. Or visit me on facebook. Thanks for reading my work and I hope you enjoy the ride.
