Welcome to my Amazon Author Page!

I'm a lifelong resident of Franklin County and think I'm really lucky to have been born in one of the greatest places in the United States! My family is still in Reynoldsburg and have always encouraged my interest in reading. My grandmother Maxine Motz in particular encouraged me to read and a great deal of my writing is directly inspired by her. With nearly every story that I write, my thoughts wander off to: how would grandma react to this or would this make her smile?

Besides being very interested in chronicling local history (I write a sometime History Lesson column for columbusunderground) I enjoy building LEGO models, playing with our dog Grace, eating at Columbus' amazing local restaurants and spending time with my husband Todd.

We currently live in the Old Oaks Historic District just east of downtown in a 120 year old wood frame home. Its up-keep and maintenance keep us plenty busy and if anyone has some old 1958 Whirlpool Gas Range parts laying around, please let us know!

My day job is training new colleagues for the Mt Carmel Medical Group. A few years ago my career took a hard left turn when I left decades of running bookstores and museum stores to begin teaching medical folks about electronic health systems. It may sound like a giant yawn, but I really love my work. It gratifies me to no end when my students have that "Ah-Ha!" moment and at that point, my day is pretty much made.

Todd and I also love all things Disney - him much more than me - and travel to the parks whenever time (and bank accounts allow). He is also an author and is currently at work on a book about the art of Disney View-masters. He has a terrific page on Flickr - please e-mail me for the details.

I love collecting stories about the history of Columbus and would welcome any and all.

Thanks for stopping by.

Doug
