Brendan McManus

Brendan McManus, a Jesuit priest, comes from a farm outside Lisnaskea, N. Ireland. He worked on the family farm for some years before returning to university, studying psychology and Information Technology (user interface design). He worked in the UK’s computer industry for 5 years before joining the Jesuits in Dublin. He was school chaplain in the Jesuit school in Galway, for some years before walking the Camino de Santiago in 2011 in memory of his brother, Donal. His book, Redemption Road, describes the challenges and joys involved in pilgrimage as a grief process. He currently works as a Spiritual Director and retreat giver in Belfast, N. Ireland. He is also Spirituality Delegate (national coordinator) for the Irish Jesuits.

Brendan has published two books with Jim Deeds from Belfast, Finding God in the Mess (2017) and Deeper in the Mess, which has just been published (2019). His second Camino book, The Road to Manresa, came out in May 2020 with Loyola Press. His booklet on spiritual preparation for the Camino, Contemplating the Camino, came out in 2019.
