Paul C Greenhalgh

Paul is retired and lives in North Norfolk with his wife Jackie and has a very full and enjoyable life.

He has always enjoyed the art of story-telling both as a writer and a reader. Paul started writing stories when his son was born and could understand a simple story. He wrote the Adventures of Courtney the Hedgehog at that point and over time the story evolved into something that started to look more like a book.

Over the years he has occasionally reread it and tinkered with it at the edges and it was only recently that one of his step Grandchildren discovered the manuscript and under pressure, started reading it to them all whenever they came to stay. They all loved the story and thought it would be a great present to give to other children. The only way to make this happen was to publish it.

THE ADVENTURES OF COURTNEY THE HEDGEHOG

A warm, beautifully illustrated woodland adventure about courage, friendship and finding a new way home.

When Courtney the Hedgehog’s home is destroyed, he decides not to remain frightened and alone. Carrying his belongings in a spotted bundle, he sets off through the countryside to visit his cousin Bramwell in Middleland.

Along the way, Courtney follows woodland paths, crosses rivers and meets a memorable group of animal friends. Humphrey Mole joins him on his journey, while Barnaby Water Rat and other riverside characters bring help, humour and unexpected adventures.

As Courtney faces unfamiliar places, challenges and new dangers, he discovers that kindness, loyalty and helping others can give even a small hedgehog the courage to keep going.

The Adventures of Courtney the Hedgehog is an illustrated animal adventure for children aged 6–9. With its gentle humour, traditional countryside setting and themes of friendship, bravery and perseverance, it is ideal for independent readers and family read-aloud time.

This is the first book in The Courtney the Hedgehog Adventures series.

The second follow on book in the series has recently been updated with a new cover and enhanced illustrations.
