Bala (B.R.) Deshpande is an engineer turned entrepreneur, data scientist and blogger. He is constantly thinking about (and occasionally writing about) how to translate data from physical and social systems into usable knowledge. He is passionate about systems thinking and uses computers to model and simulate systems to learn more about them.
While he is not being nerdy about systems, he tries to help businesses convert their data into insights using analytics (somewhat less nerdy). Otherwise he loves playing flamenco guitar and hiking in the woods.
He has a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Strategy from the Ross School of Business (Michigan). He lives with his wife and two sons near Ann Arbor, Michigan.
