Thanks for visiting my page! I am a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I am also a member of the Departments of Kinesiology and Psychiatry at that same university. I have many interests but my main areas of research are related to child health and development, and the role of physical activity (including exercise and sport participation) in promoting health and well-being in children and youth. I am also interested in research methods, especially related to the development and testing of scales to measure things like child development, stress and mental health. If you would like to learn more about this work check out our website at www.inchlab.ca.

The collection of books I have written and edited so far will give you some idea of the breadth of research and things I am interested in learning more about.

You will also see from this collection that I love sports especially baseball. Immaculate is my first popular history book on the topic of baseball. The idea came to me after Steve Delabar, a relief pitcher for the Blue Jays, pitched a perfect inning during the 2013 regular season. At the time, I began to wonder how many times that had been accomplished so I started doing some research. As I learned more about the pitchers, and the history of the game through their stories, I realized I had enough material to write a book. It will be released in time for the start of the 2015 season. I hope you will give it read and let me know what you think. I have some other books on baseball planned so stay tuned.

When I am not writing, conducting research, teaching or watching baseball (basketball and hockey), I am a husband and father of two small children - my most important and rewarding career!
