Steve Thompson's journey began in a small East Coast town and took him across 49 states before he turned fourteen—an early education in diverse people and places that would shape his career.
After serving in the Air Force as a Medic, Steve spent years on the front lines of healthcare as an Emergency Room LVN Nurse. That experience sparked a pivot toward injury and illness prevention: for over two decades, he has helped organizations protect their people through innovative risk, safety, and ergonomic strategies.
Steve is the co-author of Workplace Safety: A Guide for Small and Midsized Companies (with Dan Hopwood), a text now used in both industry and college classrooms. He also co-wrote High-Payoff Selling: Being Visible and Viable in the New Insurance Market and is currently writing High-Payoff Safety: The Disciplined Pursuit of Fewer Injuries and Greater Care (expected December 2027).
His career has spanned corporate roles and entrepreneurship. In 2006, he founded Aspen Risk Management Group (now part of TRISTAR) with partner Cathi Marx. He served as a principal with Polestar Performance Programs, where he had the privilege of coaching hundreds of new sales professionals.
Today, Steve considers himself in "Life 6.0"—writing, consulting, and presenting on industry topics.
