Barbara Paulding

Barbara was born in Hamilton, Iowa in “The Little Black House,” a coal miner’s shack covered in tar paper.

When Barbara was seventeen, she left the coal mining towns of southern Iowa to attend the University of Iowa where she earned her BA and MA in psychology.

After college, Barbara enjoyed a long career as an educator, but when she was fifty years old, she “ran away from home” and went to truck driving school. She and her husband, Kirk, drove semis together for two years before she returned to her previous life as a college instructor.

Barbara has returned to her roots and now lives with her husband, Kirk Moody, on a small acreage in southern Iowa. She has written Truck Stop, a novel, and Stories From My Father, a family anthology.
