Gloria Craw, the author of the Atlantis Rising series, is known as Gia by her friends. She grew up in the Desert Southwest where she developed a profound appreciation for open skies and brilliant sunsets.
In fourth grade, she fell in love with the Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective series and from there became a prolific, bordering on obsessive, reader of fiction. Fortunately for her, the city library was just two blocks from her home. She frequently made the trip between the two with a backpack full of books slung over her shoulder.
After high school, Gloria attended the University of Utah, where she majored in anthropology with an emphasis in archeology, a field of study that still fascinates her.
With her Bachelor's degree hot off the press, she moved to Seattle, Washington. Though requiring a significant climate adjustment, she has learned to appreciate rainy days, fir trees, and Elliot Bay. Her friends consider it blasphemous, but she does not like the smell of coffee and is not a fan of Seattle’s famous businesses, Starbucks. However, she will occasionally buy something from R.E.I. to support the local economy.
Gloria wrote her first book on a dare. Even she will tell you that it was terrible, but she found the writing process entertaining and therapeutic so she forged ahead. She gets her best ideas while walking her dogs, Finn and Gracy, and she does her best writing between eleven p.m. and two in the morning. Her current office is a converted closet. It is her favorite room in the house.
