Hugh Harris

Hugh Harris, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Virginia as a teenager, living in the Shenandoah Valley. Following service in the U.S. Army, Hugh earned a degree in Sociology at Bridgewater College, and an M.Div degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He served as a United Methodist pastor for a total of 46 years. Throughout his life he has been an artist, exhibiting and selling his paintings wherever he has lived. Current work is on exhibit at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, Virginia where he is a resident artist.

Since 2011 Hugh has also been a writer, publishing three novels in his Dinkel Island Series. "FORGIVEN," originally titled "A Change of Heart," was released in 2013, Return of Bliss in 2014, and Secrets at Lighthouse Point in 2015. In 2017 he published his mother's biography, "When Love Prevails." He illustrated a tourist book titled, "Portrait of a Town: Cape Charles 1940-60" by Patricia Joyce Parsons. In 2015 he and his late wife Sharon, published a non-fiction book: "NPH Journey into Dementia and Out Again"--about her experience with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is now available in a second edition. In 2018 Hugh published his fourth novel, "PIPELINE," which is set in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia. Most recently he published a small collection of his blogs in a devotional format titled, "Tag-along Talk."

Hugh and his wife Nancy make their home in North Chesterfield, Virginia.
