Garry Atkinson

Garry Atkinson was born in Goldsboro, NC, to an artistically-gifted father and literary-gifted mother. He was fascinated with history, art, and science as a kid, especially dinosaurs. His world opened up while attending the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. While studying in Design School at NC State he created the character Fundo in his sketchbooks.

In 2013, Garry and Ayana, his now wife collaborated on their first book "Fundo's Animal Alphabet", which is a local family favorite via Fundo Press LLC. When not illustrating and writing, Garry is a visual creator and textiles professional. Garry lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and dogs. He's the host of the Gartifacts podcast where he chronicles the creative journey of a young black creator in the modern world.
