ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Maude McDonald better known as “Candy” published her first book of poetry February 2014 titled Poetically Blessed.
Maude stated that her poetry is a gift from God and believes that a gift from God is a gift that should be shared.
She has a B.S. degree in Home and Family Life/Early Childhood Education from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
She has worked at several public schools and recreation centers in St Petersburg, FL.
She spent fifteen years in the Air Force Reserves out of MacDill Air Force base in Tampa, Florida and is a veteran of the Desert Storm War.
Maude has been writing since grade school.
In 1999 and 2000, she received awards for outstanding achievements and excellence in poetry.
In 1993, she traveled to Washington D.C. to be inducted into the International Society of Poets and after returning to St. Petersburg, an article was place in the St. Petersburg Times in the Good for You section.
In 1994, she was featured in an article in the Minuteman’s Air Force Reserve magazine about the poem she wrote while in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. A lot of her work has appeared in various anthologies including The Teacher’s Anthology in 1989.
She is a retired educator that has never stopped working. Currently she works in the area of private duty nursing and as an EKG technician but her main focus is on writing and publishing. She has spoken to several children groups and has appeared several times on Princess Denise Wright’s Matters of the Heart Radio Ministry’s Programs.
She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She has two brothers and one sister.
Maude now resides in St. Petersburg, Florida with her son, Jordan and her dog, Ely.
She loves life and the newness that each day brings.
