Mark F. Cheney received a BA in Psychology and was a post-graduate student at the University of Utah, and then went on to Law School at Southland University. He has written a number of articles on ancient America that can be seen on Academia dot edu under his name, and others on BMAF dot org.
Mark has traveled extensively in Mesoamerica and explored the ancient ruins including Teotihuacan, Palenque, Tulum, and Izapa, Mexico; Copan, Honduras (photo above, 1995); Tikal, Guatemala; and Lamanai, Belize, studying the glyphs, art, architecture and artifacts of the residents of the ancient world.
Mark was born in California and served an LDS mission in Florida, USA. As an iinteresting part of his working career, Mark was a Private Investigator for five years in both Missouri and Arizona, specializing in missing persons. He and his wife, Sally, currently reside in Oregon. They have six children, 16 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Cheney has given presentations on Ancient America and the Book of Mormon, and college classes on the World of the Ancient Maya. Elder Mark & Sister Sally Cheney served a senior mission in Riverton, Utah in 2018.
MARK OF THE JAGUAR, a Book of Mormon Adventure in the Land of the Maya, is his first venture into publishing in the world of fiction, which has won an Indie Book of the Day award, and was NOMINATED FOR A 2014 WHITNEY AWARD in LDS Historical Fiction.
