Elizabeth Woolsey

Elizabeth Woolsey, DVM, is an award-winning author and retired equine veterinarian. After graduating from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, she spent nearly thirty years practicing equine medicine in South Australia. Not surprisingly, horses, veterinarians, and some of the more unusual experiences of veterinary practice have found their way into her books. She continues to contribute to veterinary literature and is a co-author of a chapter on equine burns in the forthcoming edition of Equine Emergencies.

Elizabeth has written fifteen books, ranging from historical time-travel fiction and veterinary stories to mysteries and young-adult fiction. Her years in Australia have provided the background—and sometimes the inspiration—for many of her stories.

Now living in the mountains of North Georgia, she spends her time writing, riding, fly fishing, and helping other writers bring their books to publication.

The horse pictured with Elizabeth is Bo, a foal she helped save after a perilous birth and difficult start in life. Bo went on to become a successful three-day event horse in Australia. At home, Elizabeth shares her life with Bailey, a recently adopted 13-year-old dog who is enjoying a well-earned retirement of her own.

Retirement, she has discovered, has been anything but boring.
