Barry Jünemann

Dear Readers,

My name is Barry Jünemann, and I am a writer.

Have you ever stopped to think about what you are actually buying when you purchase a book written by an author?

You are not simply buying information, a nonfiction book, or a novel with a compelling story. The book you hold in your hands represents hundreds of hours of thought and research before the idea could take shape. It represents countless hours spent working on sentences and passages that were ultimately discarded. It represents hundreds of hours of aching hands and joints from writing at a computer. You are buying hundreds of days and nights from a writer’s life.

You are also buying a writer’s fears, including the fear of not being able to meet daily and monthly financial obligations. Yes, a freelance writer also has to pay the rent and provide for themselves and their family.

But you are also buying the happy moments in a writer’s life. You are sharing in the joy of presenting readers with a new work and giving them many informative and exciting hours. You are not simply buying a book. You are buying a piece of the writer’s life, a piece they have given to you in order to share the contents of their book with you.

The most important thing you give a writer when you buy a book, however, is freedom. It is the freedom to invest more time in writing. In this way, the relationship between a writer and their readers creates a deep sense of connection, a mutual exchange from which both sides benefit.

You may know the famous words attributed to Oscar Wilde: “The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.”

Should my book titles tempt you, reading my books might just change your entire life.

Yours sincerely,

Barry Jünemann
