Mona de Vestel

Mona de Vestel is a writer, performer and professor whose passion for writing began in childhood. Mona grew up telling stories and entertaining her family with skits she would perform as a child. Throughout her life, Mona fought her connection to the spiritual realm until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was then that she decided to delve into her spiritual practice with healer and shaman Wendy Root. In August 2013, Mona began channeling the nonphysical entity of 7,000 souls named Edryon and wrote down the manuscript Love in a Time of War.

Mona holds a BS in languages & linguistics from Georgetown University, a MPS in New Media (ITP) from NYU and a MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. She has been teaching college writing at various colleges and universities around the country, including State University of New York, Oswego. Mona’s work has been published in various journals and anthologies. She is the author of King Leopold's Daughter a memoir (in submission); she is also at work on a novel One String Guitar about the Rwandan genocide. Mona was a cast member in director Ping Chong’s latest Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo - a historical theater piece about tribal reconciliation in the Congo. The script developed for the play is based on real-life personal and historical narrative. Mona grew up in Brussels, Belgium and now lives in Southern California.
