Dr. Dale B. Sims

I have been a full-time professor at DBU since 1991. For seven years, I taught Computer Science courses. In 1994, I was asked to help create the MIS program in the College of Business. After finishing that task, I went back to teaching Computer Science. In 1998, the University requested that I transfer my time and knowledge over to the MIS progam. I am now the Dean of the College of Business.

Previous to coming to DBU, I worked in a number of different technical positions in several industries. I worked in research and development for a major petroleum company. I was a network and system manager in Houston. I served as a systems analyst/application programmer for the third largest insurance company in the U.S. I designed and supervised the building of computer facilities. I created new types of computing equipment for geologists and geophysicists. I created an online, realtime stock and bond analysis program. I was a knowledge engineer working with AI, specifically expert systems and neural nets. I occassionally do consulting. Recently, I did some work for American Trial Management.

My formal education gives me a wide range of interests. I have a Bachelor's degree from a small college in Kansas. I majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have a Master's degree from Houston Baptist University in Human Resource Management. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of North Texas in Information Science. I still have some responsibilities as a Fulbright Scholar. I represented the United States as a scholar, teaching in Latvia during 2006.

I am married to the wonderful Debbie Sims. She is a Principal of an Elementary School in Grand Prairie. We have a son, Josh, and a daughter, Laura and grandsons David, Caden, and Tyler.

Having grown up in farming country, I love the great outdoors. I hunt, fish, garden, do carpentry work, and shoot skeet in my spare time (there's not much of that these days).

I'm pleased that you chose to spend your some time with my book. I look forward to many interesting discussions.
