Douglas Mong

Douglas Mong (1960-to present) was born in Sarasota, Florida. He later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with his parents in 1965 where he lived until moving to the central east coast of Florida in 2000.

His deep passion for snakes started way back in 1966 when he was just six years old. Ever since the capture of his first Rough Green Snake, he has collected and acquired many other types of snakes over the years. These would include Water Snakes, Garter Snakes, ratsnakes, cornsnakes, kingsnakes, Boa constrictors, Pythons, milksnakes and the gorgeous Florida Indigos back in the late 60s and early 70s.

He had wonderful parents that fully endorsed and promoted his deep interest in these creatures. They would even give him snakes and snake books for birthdays and Christmas throughout his childhood. Ever since those youthful days of long ago, he has been researching and studying as much as possibly about these interesting reptiles. Douglas has kept a large variety of different kinds over the years, but the genus Lampropeltis is his all-time favorites to own and work with.

He has been breeding and producing snakes for the past twenty-five years, and has found it very rewarding. To this day, his entire life has always revolved around snakes ever since he can remember, and this new book, "The Guide to Honduran Milksnakes" is true testament to his dedicated research and study of these magnificent snakes.
