Nigel Daly

Nigel Daly was born in Cheshire and trained as an actor at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, after which he became a scriptwriter for film, TV and Radio.

He formed his Architectural Design Practice, Nigel Daly Design, in 1985, based in London and Cheshire, specialising in the restoration, extension and development of period properties, their interiors and gardens. He had a regular column, 'Designers Notebook' in Period House magazine, and has written for and been featured in House and Garden, Homes and Gardens and Period Living Magazine.

He won the Grand Designs Restoration Award 2008 for his restoration of Bletchley Manor in Shropshire, and together with his partner Brian Vowles is currently engaged in restoring Biddulph Old Hall on the Staffordshire Moorlands. The first year of this work was featured in the BBC2 series 'Restored to Glory'.

For their restoration of Bletchley Manor, they were described by Janet Street-Porter as the 'Super Heroes of the Restoration World'.
